Before you buy a new key, verify that you are able to enter the programming mode as described in Step 3 (#1-5) below. You can only use your master Toyota key to make duplicate keys, therefore won’t be able to enter programming mode using the valet key. Also, most models only allow to program up 5 chip keys. In order to program Toyota, Lexus or Scion smart key, you will need to get the Techstream software and MINI-VCI cable. You will need to install the software and the driver on your Windows XP, 7, 8 or 10 computer or tablet. Installation instructions are usually provided with the purchase of the cable. Gave up on Techstream for the fob programming, tried this again, and finally got this to work: Program Remote: FSM sequence I – (2003+) Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked. Originally, I was using Techstream 14.x on a Windows 7 32-bit laptop and when I navigated to Body/electrical Smart Key, it simply never displayed the 'utility' button to allow for programming. I actually had an older Windows XP 32-bit laptop with Techstream 7.x installed so I gave it a shot.

Preparations:

Procedures:

Connect your Techstream cable to vehicle obd port under the steering wheel.

Use your original master key to turn the ignition to “ON” position

Run Techstream software

After vehicle identification,select “Immobiliser”

Click “Utility” button at left side menu,then select “Key Registration”

Then press “Next” to proceed

Now Techstream will show you the steps to program new keys:

Step 1:

Remove the key from the Key Cylinder

Insert the key back into the Key Cylinder

Turn IG ON

After then click “Next” to continue

Step 2:

Remove the master key from the key cylinder within 20 seconds,then press Next.

Step 3:

Insert the key you want to program within 10 seconds,then press next.

<CAUTION>:DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON

Now it need take a few minutes to complete the progress,please wait…

After the process completing,it will show the key registration is complete.

Toyota Techstream Software Key

This key should now start the vehicle.

Press “Next” to register another key or press Exit to exit the key registration wizard

Now you can the new key on your Camry by using security light for immobilizer system.If keys can not work the security light will be blinking constantly,and if inserted key is registered key,the security light will disappear.And the you can take the key to your local locksmith store to cut the key.

Program Remote Buttons:

Back to “Main Body”

Select “Utility” button,then select “Wireless Code Registration”

Then it will ask you to perform below operations:

1.Ignition is ON

2.Driver side door is opened and other doors are closed

3.Driver side door is unlocked

After the click “Next” to continue

Note:The registration process will fail if the time limit is exceeded for any step

Remaining number of remotes that can be registered,here in the example number of remotes currently registered is 2,click “Next”

On the next screen,you will have to perform the following operations within 30 seconds.

On the remote transmitter,push:

1.Lock and Unlock simultaneously for 1 second.

2.Within 3 seconds,press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button again for 1 second

On the remote transmitter,push:

1.Lock and Unlock simultaneously for 1 second.

2.Within 3 seconds,press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button again for 1 second

Wireless Code Registration is complete

Press Next to register another key code,or press Exit to exit this function

Now test the remote function on your Toyota Camry.

Smart code registration process:

Connect the diagnostic cable to the vehicle

Run Techstream

Select Division, Model, Year, Engine and specify Options:

Car: Toyota Rav 4 2009

Engine: 2GR-FE

Option: 2WD

W/ smart key

Select ECU Smart Key for Smart resetting

Click for Utility

Then choose Smart Code Registration (classic) in Utility Selection Menu

The function is used to register the immobilizer portion of smart keys.

Confirm the following conditions:

– Power/engine switch is ON(IG)

Choose third option:

I am registering keys and have replaced the ID Code Box and Smart ECU or have performed Smart Code Reset

Then press Next

Techstream starts to program keys…

To register key touch the Power/Engine Switch with the key – you will hear a signal, and then move the key to the center of car cabin – you will hear a signal once again.

To register the second, third key, etc. – just repeat “touch and move” operations. You have 30 seconds to do this.

Smart Code Registration is complete.
